Wacky Wheels

While consoles were getting all the attention in 90s, PCs tried their not to fall behind on the latest trends.

Released in 1994 by Apogee (2 years after the release of Super Mario Kart), Wacky Wheels sought to bring the fun and action of Mario’s kart racing endeavors to PC gamers running DOS. Featuring zoo animals in place of Mario characters and mechanics and modes unique to the game, Wacky Wheels proved that PC gaming was capable of pushing out console level graphics during a time when consoles where the kings of gaming power.

Although the game has never received a sequel, it is available on Steam and is worth a purchase as the game holds up on it’s own as a Mario kart alternative for retro PC gaming enthusiasts and curious gamers alike.
