Released to arcades in 1994 by Sega, Daytona USA blew people’s minds with it’s incredibly realistic graphics for the time. Boasting fully texture mapped polygons running at a smooth constant 60 fps, Daytona USA was the height of visual fidelity in gaming at the time.
Nowadays, Daytona USA is mostly remembered for it’s catchy soundtrack composed by Takenobu Mitsuyoshi who also sings the vocals. The game is pretty tough with unforgiving AI even on the easiest tracks, but damn if it isn’t rewarding to come out victorious.
Daytona USA has been ported to various consoles including the Sega Saturn, Dreamcast, and recently, PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. The modern ports even feature online play and a freaking karaoke mode!!!!!!! A must buy IMHO.
